Integrated surgery
of genetic eye of AOU Meyer.

Our goal is to contribute to patients’ care
at the Anna Meyer Pediatric Hospital in Florence (Italy)
with an instrument enabling the early detection
of genetic eye diseases, through OCT: Optical Consistency Tomography.
Today, the fields of application of the OCT
in the ophthalmological subspecies allow excellent results
in terms of diagnosis and follow up for clinical conditions
of difficult detection from the ocular clinical examination alone.
Thanks to the support of Ventiseidieci,
Meyer Pediatric Hospital will be able to improve
the overall performance.
A precise diagnosis of hereditary eye diseases affects
the quality of life of children and the limitation
of the inconvenience they often entail.
According to the most recent studies
of the international scientific community,
hereditary retinal dystrophies are the main cause
of visual impairment during evolutionary age.
Given the characteristics of the OCT examination instrument, its use is indispensable
in hereditary retinal dystrophies as it can reveal pathological situations
even when the ocular background looks almost normal.
